Robin Eugene Welborn, 34, of Ringgold, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was a 1988 honor graduate of Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School. Mr. Welborn excelled in athletics receiving the Bob Davis Athletic Award, was voted most athletic male student, was a Georgia state wrestling champion, and received several scholarships for outstanding achievement. He received a BA from the University of Georgia in Business Finance and a degree in Industrial Hygiene. He had been active in elementary wrestling program and had coached in the athletic programs at Boynton and Ringgold. Mr. Welborn was employed with the Social Security Administration in Dalton, and was a member of East Ridge Church of God and the Battlefield Golf and Country Club. He was a good man, loving father and precious son.

Survivors are father, Ronnie Welborn, Fort Oglethorpe; mother and step-father, Judy and Jeff Acuff, Ringgold; daughters, Emma Welborn and Samantha York, both of Ringgold; brother, Donnie Welborn, Ringgold; paternal grandmother, Bonnie Welborn, Fort Oglethorpe, maternal grandfather, Bill Boss, Ringgold; step-brother, Chad Acuff, Step-sister, Melissa Moore, both of Ringgold; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Battlefield Pkwy, with Rev. Terry Harris officiating. Interment was in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
