Brian Lyons, CEO, CTO Number Six Software, Leaves a
Legacy of Contributions to the Technology Industry

VIENNA, VA, September 4, 2007 – Brian Lyons, co-founder, CEO and CTO of Number Six Software, died on September 3, 2007 at approximately 6:30 p.m. as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Route 32, near Ft. Meade, Maryland.

Lyons, 42, worked in the software industry for over twenty years and is a widely recognized authority in many technologies, including the Rational Unified Process, Eclipse Process Framework, Service Oriented Architecture and Agile. He is also co-author of UML 2 Tookit, and a host of other published papers and articles. His recent passion was blogging, and over the past few weeks he posted many to the Number Six blog on a variety of issues. Visit http://blogs.numbersix.com to read his postings.

While spending much of his career as trainer, product-centered consultant, methodologist and object-oriented mentor, Lyons continuously stayed close to the pragmatic issues of the software developer. His enthusiasm and his contributions to the development of cutting edge technologies earned him respect among his peers and his clients, and his unique style and spirit of delivery will be widely remembered and missed at industry events across the nation where he was frequently a presenter or speaker.

Prior to co-founding Number Six in 1994, Lyons was a software specialist with Rational Software, and a software developer with GTE. Lyons earned his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, and conducted postgraduate work in software engineering at the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering.
